Deputy Chief Scott Breslow grew up in Union. He is a graduate of Union High School.

 

After high school he graduated from Rutgers University where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.

 

In 1985, Deputy Chief Breslow became a volunteer member of the Township of Union Auxiliary Police, and was hired by the Police Department in 1987.

 

As a patrol officer in 1994, Deputy Chief Breslow was assigned to the original Essex/Union Auto Theft Task Force that was created to deter auto thefts and apprehend criminals committing automobile thefts throughout both counties.

 

In 1995 Deputy Chief Breslow was assigned to the Detective Bureau as a Detective.

 

In 1999 he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and was assigned to the Patrol Bureau.

 

Just four short years later in 2003, Deputy Chief Breslow was promoted to Lieutenant and was assigned to Internal Affairs and the Staff Services Bureau.

 

In 2009 he was promoted to Captain and was assigned as the Investigative Division Commander of the Detective Bureau. He then served as Commander of the Patrol Bureau before returning back to the Detective Bureau as the Bureau’s Commander once again where he has been currently assigned.

 

Deputy Chief Breslow has received numerous Departmental and PBA awards, as well as participating in and supervising many large scale investigations.

 

Deputy Chief Breslow has received training in:

            Basic and Advanced Investigative Techniques

            Interview and Interrogation

            Narcotics Investigations

            Auto Theft Investigations

            Investigations of Street Gangs Criminal Activity

            And Terrorism.

 

Deputy Chief Breslow has served as an instructor at the Union County Police Academy on a variety of topics in Law Enforcement. He currently serves as the Township of Union Police Department’s Counter Terrorism Liaison with the Union County Counter-Terrorism Task Force.
